Aigars moved to New Zealand in 2014 to help with Christchurch rebuild. He brought along his extensive experience in building, renovations and shop-fitting.
Originally hailing from the east European shores of Latvia, Aigars travelled to the United States and England, spending over 10 years learning the craft of laying parquet flooring and joinery, working on shop and business fit-outs along with building high-end casinos.
As well as learning joinery, Aigars says understanding the basics of carpentry enabled him to not just make the pieces required for the fit-outs, but install them as well.
"My joinery experience in England has opened a lot of doors," says Aigars. "As soon as you say 'carpenter and joiner', customers love it because not all carpenters can do joinery. My philosophy in business is to get it right from the first go for my customers."
Migrating to New Zealand in 2014 years ago in search of a lifestyle closer to nature, Aigars gained a level 4 Certificate in Carpentry, became a Licensed Building Practitioner and founded Seven Hawks in 2016.
